BJ8.15 Section 49(1) condition: minimum period of time in New Zealand (to 28/07/2022)
As set out at BJ8.10(b), the principal applicant under each category of the Migrant Investment Categories must spend a minimum period of time in New Zealand during the required investment period. The time periods are:
- Investor 1 Category:
- 12% of each of the final two years of the three year investment period (44 days per year); or
- 88 days over the three year investment period (from their first day in New Zealand as a resident) if a minimum of NZ$2.5 million (25% of the NZ$10 million investment amount) is invested in ‘growth investments’ (see BJ3.15.1).
- Investor 2 Category:
- 40% of each of the final three years of the four year investment period (146 days per year); or
- 438 days over the four year investment period (from their first day in New Zealand as a resident) if a minimum of NZ$750,000 (25% of NZ$3 million) is invested in ‘growth investments’ (see BJ5.45).
