L3.10 Express purposes (25/07/2007)
Express purposes include the following:
- study as a full fee paying student (generally only for short courses);
- attending an event such as a wedding, funeral, conference or seminar, graduation or other significant ceremony, sports tournament or match, or religious event;
- medical treatment in NZ;
- family emergencies such as an illness or accident affecting a family member or relative of the applicant in New Zealand;
- "milestone" events such as anniversaries or reunions;
- publicly funded education, where the student is accompanied by his or her unlawful parent or parents, who are making attempts to regularise the family's immigration status (see L8.10);
- any other specific purpose (other than employment), where the circumstances justify issuing a limited purpose visa.
