R6.1 New Zealand Residence Programme (01/07/2008)
  1. The New Zealand Residence Programme consists of all persons approved for residence in each year ending 30 June.
  2. The New Zealand Residence Programme is set on an annual basis, and any changes will be advised by an amendment to this policy.
  3. The New Zealand Residence Programme for the 2008/09 year is 45,000 to 50,000 approved places.

R6.5 Allocation of places within the New Zealand Residence Programme

  1. There are three streams within the New Zealand Residence Programme:
    1. The Skilled/Business stream;
    2. The Family Sponsored stream; and
    3. The International/Humanitarian stream.
  2. The Government may, from time to time, reallocate places for approvals within the three streams and/or add places to the three streams.
  3. The annual allocation of places within the New Zealand Residence Programme for the Skilled/Business stream is approximately 60% of the number of places available within the New Zealand Residence Programme
  4. The annual allocation of places within the New Zealand Residence Programme for the Parent, Adult Child and Adult Sibling policies of the Family Sponsored stream is approximately 11% of the number of places available within the New Zealand Residence Programme
  5. The annual allocation of places within the New Zealand Residence Programme for the International /Humanitarian stream is approximately 9% of the number of places available within the New Zealand Residence Programme
  6. The annual allocation of places within the New Zealand Residence Programme for the Partner and Dependent Child policies of the Family Sponsored stream is uncapped. For planning purposes this is estimated to be about 20%.
