F3.10.1 Interviews

1. Visa and immigration officers will usually conduct an interview with both the principal applicant and de facto partner to determine whether they have been living together in a genuine and stable relationship for at least 2 years immediately before the application is assessed.
2. Interviews may be waived if a visa or immigration officer is satisfied without an interview that the couple has been living together in a genuine and stable relationship for at least 2 years immediately before the application is assessed.
3. Visa and immigration officers may also conduct interviews at the end of the deferral period (see F3.15) to determine whether the couple has been living together in a genuine and stable relationship for at least 2 years immediately before the application is assessed.

F3.10.5 Family details

Visa and immigration officers may refer to former applications lodged by applicants, family members of applicants, or sponsors in order to verify declarations made by applicants about their family details (such as the number of family members, the whereabouts of family members, or an applicant's or partner's marital status).
