A6.1 Requirement for holders of diplomatic and official passports to pay visa fee (26/07/1999)

Holders of diplomatic and official passports who:

  1. are not exempt from the requirement to have a permit to be in New Zealand (see A3), and
  2. wish to visit New Zealand or transit New Zealand, are either required to pay a visa fee or are exempted from the requirement to pay a visa fee dependent on the purpose of their visit to, or transit through, New Zealand.

A6.1.1 Officials of government entities travelling to New Zealand to conduct business with New Zealand Ministers of the Crown or New Zealand central Government Ministries/Departments

Such applicants are required to apply for a visa (if they are not from a country with which New Zealand has a visa waiver agreement) but exempt from the requirement to pay the visa fee. Such applicants will be required to provide documentary evidence of the purpose of their visit.

A6.1.5 Holders of diplomatic passports entering or transiting New Zealand en route to or returning from, a Diplomatic posting in a country other than New Zealand

Such applicants are required to apply for a visa (if they are not from a country with which New Zealand has a visa waiver agreement) but exempt from the requirement to pay the visa fee. Such applicants will be required to provide documentary evidence of the purpose of their visit.

A6.1.10 Officials of government entities entering or transiting New Zealand en route to or returning from a third country where the purpose of the visit to that country is to conduct official government to government business

Such applicants are required to apply for a visa (if not from a country with which New Zealand has a visa waiver agreement) but exempt from the requirement to pay the visa fee. Such applicants will be required to provide documentary evidence of the purpose of their visit

A6.1.15 Individuals entering or transiting New Zealand in order to assist the operations of their Embassy or Consulate in New Zealand or elsewhere

Such applicants are required to apply for a visa (if not from a country with which New Zealand has a visa waiver agreement) but exempt from the requirement to pay the visa fee. Such applicants will be required to provide documentary evidence of the purpose of their visit.

A6.1.20 Holders of diplomatic or official passports who are visiting or transiting New Zealand for the purposes of tourism or private business

Such applicants are required to apply for a visa (if not from a country with which New Zealand has a visa waiver agreement) and to pay the appropriate visa fee.

A6.1.25 Holders of diplomatic or official passports who are visiting New Zealand for the purposes of official business, but who are not conducting business with New Zealand Ministers of the Crown or New Zealand central government ministries or departments

Such applicants are required to apply for a visa (if not from a country with which we have a visa waiver agreement) and to pay the appropriate visa fee
