R4.1 Health requirements (26/07/1999)
Immigration Regulations 1999 regs 4(1)(f) and 10(1)(h)
- All persons included in residence applications must meet the health requirements as set out in the Administration chapter (see A4) or qualify for a waiver of the health requirements.
- If any person included in the application fails to meet the necessary health requirements and does not qualify for a waiver of the health requirements, the application may be declined.
R4.1.1 Evidence of health
- The following documents must be supplied for every person included in an application:
- a fully completed NZIS Medical Certificate for New Zealand, and
- an NZIS X-ray Certificate for New Zealand (except in the case of a pregnant woman or child under the age of 12), and
- any associated medical or laboratory reports required for the medical or X-ray certificates.
- All medical and X-ray certificates and associated reports must be less than 3 months old at the date the application is lodged.
R4.1.5 Assessment
- Officers assess medical and X-ray certificates first against the assessment guidelines given in the Administration chapter (see A4.20).
- If after assessing the certificates against the guidelines, officers are not satisfied that an applicant is of an acceptable standard of health, they must refer the certificates to an NZIS medical consultant for further assessment (see A4.35).
