BC10.5 Renewal of work permits and visas beyond 3 years (20/11/2002)

1. Further work permits may be granted (and corresponding multiple entry work visas issued) beyond the initial 3 year period (for periods not exceeding 3 years) where a business immigration specialist is satisfied that there are valid reasons for the principal applicant needing a further permit.
2. If the principal applicant is seeking a renewal for a period beyond the initial 3 years on the basis of a new business proposal, (not being a new business proposal for which consent has been given under BC10.1) a business immigration specialist may require that a new application be lodged.
3. Further work permits and/or visas will be granted or issued only where a business immigration specialist is satisfied that:
   1. any time in New Zealand has been spent setting up and operating the original business proposal; or
   2. where there was a change to the original business proposal, consent was granted for that change by a business immigration specialist; and
   3. that the principal applicant and any family member accompanying them have not drawn on the New Zealand welfare system; and
   4. that the principal applicant intends to spend the further period in New Zealand either implementing the original business proposed or a subsequent business proposal for which a business immigration specialist has given consent; and
   5. that the principal applicant has, in addition to investment capital, access to sufficient funds for their own maintenance and accommodation and that of any spouse, partner or dependent child accompanying them; and
   6. that they meet Health and Character requirements policy (see A4 and A5).
