X6.20 Evidence satisfying special provisions

X6.20.1 Evidence of New Zealand partner's support

Evidence of a New Zealand partner's support of an applicant for an RRV may include:

  1. a letter stating support for the application, and
  2. any additional evidence requested by the NZIS, including that obtained by interview.

X6.20.5 Evidence of relationship to New Zealand citizen or to resident seconded overseas

An applicant making an application for an RRV on the basis of being the partner of a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand resident must provide:

  1. evidence of their relationship with their New Zealand citizen or New Zealand resident partner, and
  2. evidence that the partnership is ongoing.

    Note: In each case where an applicant is reliant solely on being the partner of a New Zealand citizen or resident for the purposes of obtaining an RRV under these policies, the onus of proving that their partnership is ongoing, lies with the applicant and their partner.

  3. for children of partners of New Zealand citizens, birth certificates or adoption orders or in the case of customary adoption evidence which satisfies a visa or immigration officer that customary adoption has taken place; or
  4. any additional evidence requested by the NZIS, including that obtained by interview.

X6.20.10 Evidence of secondment overseas

Evidence of secondment overseas is:

  1. An original or certified copy of a letter from the employer:
    1. stating the terms and duration of the secondment, and
    2. confirming that the applicant is still considered to be a New Zealand resident; and
  2. any additional evidence requested by the NZIS, including that obtained by interview.
