W2.5 Work policy criteria (26/07/1999)
- To be issued with a work visa or granted a work permit, applicants must:
- produce an offer of employment and a supporting case from an employer showing why it is not possible to employ a suitable New Zealand resident as specified at W2.10, or the requirements specified for any one of the special categories listed in W3 and W4, or
- meet the requirements specified for one of the work schemes listed at W5, or
- meet the requirements specified for one of the working holiday schemes listed at W6.
- All applicants must meet the requirements under Generic Temporary Entry policy for:
- lodging an application for a temporary entry visa or permit as set out at E4, and
- as set out at E5, and
- health and character as set out at E6.
- All people wishing to work in New Zealand as an employee must be paid the appropriate adult or youth minimum wage.
Note: This includes students wishing to work in New Zealand.
