U9.10 Religious trainees
- Foreign students accepted for training in New Zealand to prepare them for entry to religious orders or the ministry are generally trained at one of the following institutions:
- College of St John the Evangelist (Anglican and Methodist)
- Knox College (Presbyterian)
- Holy Cross Seminary (Catholic).
- Such students may be issued with a student visa and granted a student permit for the requested period.
- Applicants must provide:
- written confirmation of a place, and
- a guarantee of accommodation, maintenance and repatriation by the sponsoring church for the length of the course, and
- if the student is undertaking university courses, evidence of an offer of a place from the university and evidence that the course fees have been paid.
- Applications for further permits must meet the same requirements as in paragraph (c) above and be supported by both the religious organisation and the training institution.
