WI4.5 Canada Working Holiday Scheme (01/04/2004)
  1. This scheme allows 2,000 young citizens of Canada annually to be issued with work visas authorising employment for a maximum of 12 months.
  2. To be eligible for a work visa under this scheme, applicants must:
    1. be citizens of Canada at the time of applying, and
    2. satisfy an NZIS visa or immigration officer that their main intention for coming to New Zealand is to holiday, and that employment is an incidental reason for the visit, and
    3. have a minimum of NZ$4,200 available funds for maintenance.
  3. Participants in the Scheme must not:
    1. engage in permanent employment; or
    2. work for the same employer for a period exceeding three months.
