W6.20 New Zealand/Canada Working Holiday Scheme (13/12/2001)
- This scheme allows 800 young citizens of Canada annually to be issued with work visas authorising employment for a maximum of 12 months.
- To be eligible for a work visa under this scheme, applicants must:
- be citizens of Canada at the time of applying, and
- satisfy an NZIS visa or immigration officer that their main intention for coming to New Zealand is to holiday, and that employment is an incidental reason for the visit, and
- have a minimum of NZ$4200 available funds for maintenance.
- Participants in the Scheme must not:
- engage in permanent employment; or
- work for the same employer for a period exceeding three months.
