W6.50 France-New Zealand Working Holiday Scheme (19/12/2001)
- This scheme allows young citizens of France to be issued with multiple entry work visas, current for 12 months from the date of issue, authorising employment for a maximum of 12 months from the date of arrival.
- The number of persons who may be approved under this scheme on a calendar year basis is as follows:
- for the year ending 31/12/99, 25 persons
- for the year ending 31/12/00, 100 persons
- for the year ending 31/12/02, 400 persons
- for subsequent years the number of persons agreed to by the governments of France and New Zealand.
- to be eligible for a work visa under this scheme, applicants must:
- be citizens of France ordinarily residing in France at the time of applying, and
- satisfy the New Zealand Embassy in Paris that their main intention for coming to New Zealand is to holiday, and that employment is an incidental reason for the visit, and
- have a minimum of NZ$4,200 available funds for maintenance, and
- agree to hold a comprehensive medical and comprehensive hospitalisation insurance that will remain current throughout their stay.
