Y2.40 Memorandum of understanding with airline carriers

  1. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) exists between INZ and certain airlines. The MOU:
    1. records an agreed approach to border responsibilities between the parties; and
    2. clearly assigns responsibilities in developing and implementing best practices to minimise the number of breaches of the Immigration Act 1987; and
    3. focuses on the level of airline infringements and their associated causes.
  2. If it is necessary to formally review the passenger check-in and processing procedures at a particular airport the consent of the airline concerned must be obtained.
  3. Despite the existence of the MOU, INZ reserves the right to prosecute carriers when appropriate.

Effective 04/04/2005
