C1.5 Role of Refugee Status Branch (RSB) (26/07/1999)

  1. The Refugee Status Branch (RSB) of the NZIS is the government office empowered by the Rules Governing Refugee Status Determination Procedures in New Zealand (effective from 30 April 1998) to implement the Government's policy for persons claiming refugee status in New Zealand.
  2. The Refugee Status Branch determines claims for refugee status from people seeking to be recognised as refugees after arrival in New Zealand.
