E6.1 Objective

Sponsorship for a temporary entry visa application ensures that applicants have means of support in New Zealand, and

1. protects the Crown and third parties from the potential cost of the visa holder seeking support or government assistance they are not entitled to; and
2. protects the Crown from incurring costs arising from the repatriation or deportation of applicants.
