United Kingdom Exceptions (to 27/08/2017)

Note: The instructions contained in this section cease to be effective from 28/08/2017.

The trade qualifications in Table A qualify for the points indicated where:

• the qualification is awarded by the City and Guilds of London Institute in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales; and
• the qualification is relevant to an occupation in Part B of the List of Skilled Occupations at Appendix 6; and
• the applicant provides evidence of completing a time-based apprenticeship which is included in Table B; and
• the time-based apprenticeship is in an occupation that is relevant to the awarded qualification’s major subject area.

Table A

If an applicant believes their qualification may be higher than the level stated they should apply to the NZQA for an International Qualification Assessment.

Note:
- Award certificates must be provided in their original language for all qualifications.
- If any courses leading to the award of one of the qualifications listed in Table A above were studied at any institution outside of the United Kingdom, including any United Kingdom overseas campuses, they should be referred to NZQA for an International Qualification Assessment.
- If any courses have been cross-credited towards the listed qualifications, these qualifications also need to be referred to NZQA for an International Qualification Assessment.
- All qualifications awarded after 2014 should be referred to NZQA for an International Qualification Assessment.

Table B

Trade Qualifications (Apprenticeships)

The Apprenticeships in Table C qualify for the points indicated where:

• the qualification is relevant to an occupation in Part B of the List of Skilled Occupations at Appendix 6; and
• the qualification is awarded by an awarding body specified in Table D below.

* Abbreviations used are for the purposes of this list and may not be stated on the award certificates.

If an applicant believes their qualification may be higher than the level stated they should apply to the NZQA for an International Qualification Assessment.

- Award certificates must be provided in their original language.
- If any courses leading to the award of one of the qualifications listed in Table C were studied at any institution outside of the United Kingdom, including any United Kingdom overseas campuses, they should be referred to NZQA for an International Qualification Assessment.
- If any courses have been cross-credited towards the listed qualifications, these qualifications also need to be referred to NZQA for an International Qualification Assessment.
- All qualifications awarded after 2014 should be referred to NZQA for an International Qualification Assessment.
- For any purpose other than claiming the SMC points stated, evidence of completing a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 2, a qualification National awarded by BTEC or Edexcel, or a Certificate awarded by City and Guilds of London Institute, at Level 2, is also likely to be required.

The following awarding bodies may award the qualifications specified from the dates shown.
