WJ1.15 Exemptions from the requirement to be a New Zealand ship
See also Fisheries Act 1996, s103A
- Section 103A of the Fisheries Act 1996 details situations in which the chief executive can exempt a vessel from the requirement to be a New Zealand ship. In situations where an exemption to this requirement has been granted and the employer has made an AIP application or is supporting a work visa application for foreign crew, the application should be considered as an exception to instructions.
- Where WJ1.15(a) applies, immigration officers should give consideration to whether the employer meets the requirements that a New Zealand employer would need to meet under WJ instructions.
