N3.15 Processing applications
Immigration Regulations 1999 regs 3 and 8
- Before issuing a transit visa, visa officers should sight:
- evidence of a fully paid airline ticket or other form of onward travel arrangement, and
- a written itinerary from the travel agent or carrier, including relevant arrival and departure times, and
- a written statement from the applicant of the purpose of the journey to the destination country or countries.
- Transit visas must only be issued to persons whom the visa officer is satisfied have a genuine intention to pass through New Zealand on the way to another destination within 24 hours of their time of arrival.
