P2.10 Types of exchange (26/07/1999)

The most common forms of exchange can be divided into three main types:

  1. Entry for employment: the exchange participant undertakes employment for gain or reward during all or part of their stay.
  2. Entry for study or training: the exchange participant attends a school or other educational or training institution in New Zealand.
  3. Entry to participate in cultural, social or artistic exchanges: the exchange participant enters as a visitor and does not require either a work or student visa or permit.
