V3.45 Applicants wanting to obtain occupational registration in New Zealand (26/07/1999)
- Applicants who seek entry to obtain New Zealand occupational registration may be issued with a visitor's visa, provided that the relevant practical or educational training lasts less than 3 months.
- Applicants who have applied for residence while in New Zealand on a temporary permit and who need to exceed the maximum stay in New Zealand to meet registration requirements, may be granted a further visitor's permit, provided that the practical or educational training lasts less than 3 months.
- If the training will take longer than 3 months, applicants under (a) and above must apply for the appropriate work or student visa or permit.
- Applicants may be granted a visa or permit to stay in New Zealand for longer than 3 months if they provide satisfactory evidence that doing so is necessary to complete registration requirements.
V3.45.1 Confirmation from registration body
Visa and immigration officers must sight written confirmation from the appropriate registration body that the applicant:
- is eligible to undertake the registration process in New Zealand, and
- has completed any enrolment requirements.
