WI4.90 Taiwan Working Holiday Scheme (01/04/2004)
  1. This scheme allows 200 young citizens of Taiwan annually to be issued with multiple entry work visas authorising employment for a maximum of 12 months.
  2. To be eligible for a work visa under this scheme, applicants must:
    1. be citizens of Taiwan, ordinarily resident in Taiwan at the time of application, and
    2. satisfy the visa officer that their primary intention is to holiday in New Zealand, with employment being an incidental rather than a primary reason for the visit, and
    3. be aged between eighteen (18) and thirty (30) years, both inclusive, at the time of application, and
    4. not be accompanied by children, and
    5. possess a valid passport, and
    6. possess a return ticket, or sufficient funds to purchase such a ticket, and
    7. possess a minimum of NZ$4,200 available funds for their maintenance during the period of stay in New Zealand, and
    8. agree to hold medical and comprehensive hospitalisation insurance to remain in force throughout their stay in New Zealand, and
    9. pay the prescribed Working Holiday Scheme work visa application fee.
  3. Holders of working holiday visas issued under this scheme:
    1. must not work for the same employer for more than three months, and
    2. must not undertake permanent or long term employment unless they apply for and obtain a permit that enables this as provided by WI4.1.5, and
    3. may enrol in one training or study course of up to 3 months duration during the course of their visit to New Zealand.
