W6.5 General conditions (26/07/1999)
- Under the working holiday schemes, young citizens of approved countries may travel to New Zealand for a holiday and undertake employment during their stay.
- To be eligible for a work visa and permit under these schemes, applicants must:
- be aged no less than 18 and no more than 30, and not be accompanied by children, and
- provide evidence of sufficient funds to purchase return travel.
- Holders of such permits:
- must not undertake permanent employment, and
- must not change their status to that of student, visitor or long- term work permit holder, and
- are not eligible to come to New Zealand for any further working holiday under the scheme, and
- if they lodge an application for residence, do not qualify for a further 3-month permit.
- The applicant is not required to provide evidence of a job offer.
