WM3 Who is eligible for a work visa under Religious Worker instructions?
To be granted a work visa under Religious Worker instructions, applicants must:
- be sponsored by a religious organisation registered as a charity with Charities Services:
- whose primary purpose is advancing religion; and
- who meets the generic sponsorship requirements set out at E6.5; and
- who can demonstrate a genuine need for the applicant to work for the sponsoring religious organisation as a religious worker; and
- have at least two years of training and/or experience relevant to the religious work they are being sponsored to undertake; and
- meet temporary entry health and character requirements (A4 and A5); and
- not previously have held a work visa under Religious Worker instructions or Ministers of religion, missionaries, and members of religious orders instructions, or Specific purpose or event work instructions before 5 November 2011) for four years or more; and
- not be an ‘officer’ or ‘nominated person’ of the religious organisation that is sponsoring them.
