This booklet must state both 准予毕业 (approved for graduation) and 授予学位 (awarded and academic degree). From 1993, the degree certificate and graduation certificate were separated and students were awarded with two certificates - the degree certificate and graduation certificate. Between 1985 and 1992, both certificates were combined into a single booklet called the “Graduation Certificate”.
All degrees awarded from 1985 must be endorsed with "Awarded according to the Regulations Concerning Academic Degrees in the People's Republic of China" (中华人民共和国学位条例).
