SR6.5 Skilled Residence: Care Workforce Work to Residence summary of requirements (11/08/2023)

  1. To be granted a Skilled Residence: Care Workforce Work to Residence visa, all applicants must:
    1. meet health and character requirements for residence (see A4 and A5); and
    2. meet the applicable minimum standard of English or, where instructions allow, pre-purchase English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tuition (see SR5.15).
  2. In addition, the principal applicant must:
    1. hold a work visa or a critical purpose visitor visa with work conditions at the time the residence application is made; and
    2. be paid at or above the Level 4 rate per hour in a Care Workforce sector occupation listed in Appendix 14 (see SR6.10); and
    3. have completed 24 months in a Care Workforce sector occupation listed in Appendix 14 (see SR6.15); and
    4. be aged 55 or younger at the time the residence application is made.

Note: The current Level 4 rate can be found in the Support Workers (Pay Equity) Settlements Act 2017 – Schedule 2 Minimum hourly wages. For the period from 1 July 2022 – 31 December 2023 the Level 4 rate is $28.25.
