C3.15 Further claims from detainees (26/07/1999)

  1. In the case of a further claim, the Refugee status officer conducting the interview should first ascertain whether circumstances in the detainee's home country have changed to such an extent that the further claim is based on significantly different grounds from the original claim.
  2. If the refugee status officer considers that the further claim does not satisfy the acceptance criteria, they should conclude the interview at that point.
  3. If the refugee status officer considers that the further claim does seem to satisfy the acceptance criteria, they should continue the interview to enable the detainee to present their case in full.
