C3.5 Time limit for completing claim (26/07/1999)

  1. Once a detainee indicates that they wish to claim refugee status, they should generally be given 2 days in which to complete an Application for Refugee Status in New Zealand and written statement.
  2. This period of time may be shorter if the detainee is making a further claim for refugee status (see C2.10) or if the detainee is to be interviewed without a written statement.
