W3.125 Overseas students wishing to gain practical work experience in New Zealand (26/07/1999)
- Applicants who are students in their home country and who wish to gain practical work experience in New Zealand (as a requirement of their studies), may be issued with work visas and granted work permits current for a maximum of 6 months if they meet the evidential requirements set out in paragraph (c) below.
- Immigration officers may consider requests for extensions of time on a case-by-case basis.
- Visa and immigration officers should sight evidence that applicants:
- are students in their home country; and
- have support from their educational institution; and
- have an offer of practical experience from a New Zealand educational institution or a New Zealand employer.
